Okay. Drug uae is as rampant as ever, and I have recently seen in the news, a new drug that is going around, shaped like little cartoon characters....they almost look like vitamins! This is scary news. Now, ecstacy has been known to be shaped and labeled differently, to entice younger people to begin using it, however, PLEASE stay away from these pills.
I am really saddened to see this, because the innocence of being young is being stripped away from the youth of this nation, world, everywhere! I really hope that parents will actively be involved in theor youth's lives, and stay on top of these issues.
Young people! Please DO NOT mess around with these pills, or any other types of drugs. I will be discussing the dangers of drug use, the dangers of selling and buying drugs, and how to stay clean. I hope that you will all think twice before you end up sick, brain damaged, or worse, DEAD!
See you tomorrow! Erica :))

Self- Harm/Cutting.... This is a MAJOR issue
I have come to realize that self-harm/cutting has become a massive issue among young people today. I am astounded at the numbers of people who are involved in this type of behavior. So, it got me thinking.... You may know me from Facebook, as I have a group with this same name as this blog, among others, and I have come across so many who are "self-harmers" or "cutters". Usually, they are in their teens or early twenties when this is occurring, though I am sure it takes place as well among all age groups, sexes, backgrounds, etc. The underlying theme I have come across regarding this issue, is there is a lack of communication with family. I am not saying that is the cause, as there are many reasons people self-harm/cut.
I have dealt with many self-harmers/cutters in recent times, though this issue goes back further than recent years. Unfortunately, this type of self-mutilation is "accepted" amonst young people, and is becoming more widespread. Many do it as an escape from pain, ironically, as cutting yourself isn't exactly pleasant feeling. I get stressed when I have to get a shot at the Doctor's office, let alone a paper cut. OUCH! But, seriously, these types of self-inflicted wounds are done for many reasons, but usually there is some underlying pain associated with it. It may be that the young person fees he/she has no one to talk to that would understand in the home, there also may be fear of what will happen if the parents/caregivers find out about this. Some I have come across have had previous pains in their life, such as incest, rape, low-self-esteem issues, bullying, taunting, and many other reasons.
Now, there is also an issue that goes along with this: Many people think that self-harmers/cutters are doing this for attention. That may be true to some degree in many cases, to a high degree in others, yet overall, it is a deep, hidden secret from most of the people the person is close to. I am glad to see there are many outreach groups available on the internet, in communities, but there needs to be more action taken to stop this from happening.
This self-mutilation is a disorder, and generally needs psychiatric/psychological attention. Unfortunately, many do not seek this because of fear of family, friends, or even the doctors finding out about this disorder they have developed. This is sad because there is hope out there. I am writing this because of all of the feedback and conversations, of which all will remain nameless, that I have been involved in in recent times. I am scared for all of you young people out there who are self-mutilating. It is harmful t not only the body, but to yourself as a whole.
Reaching out is the first step, even if it is just dropping me an email, or joining one of my Facebook groups, or the many other groups out there. There are hotlines also available 24 hours a day to talk about this issue. I will be discussing this issue more in-depth as time goes on, it will be coming up quite often, as I have been overwhelmed at the amount of young people who need serious attention. I also have some good things to share, positive things, that may help you to stop self-mutilating.
I hope you will continue to read this blog, please become a follower of it, as it will be updated regularly. You can always contact me on here, on Facebook, and MSN Messenger.
